Peter Obi, the Labour Party 2023 presidential candidate, has accused the APC government led by Bola Tinubu of of turning Nigeria into a nation plagued by hunger, insecurity, and suffering.
He urged Nigerians to vote for change in order to reclaim the country’s resources for the welfare of the people.
Obi made the remarks while addressing traders at AMAC market in Abuja on February 3, 2026, highlighting widespread poverty, lack of security, and poor public service delivery across the nation.

“Today, Nigeria is a place of hunger, a place of suffering. Our children are not in school. There is no proper healthcare,” he said.

He stressed that continued support for the current government would deepen the country’s crises, warning that Nigeria cannot afford more mismanagement of resources.
Obi said only by voting responsibly can Nigerians ensure public funds are used for development rather than personal enrichment.
The former presidential candidate appealed to voters to support ADC candidate Dr. Moses Paul in the upcoming AMAC elections.
“We cannot continue this way. Change must start with your votes,” Obi said, promising a new government that would focus on security, infrastructure, and public welfare.
