Social commentator Shehu Gazali Sadiq has stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) government is involved in the terrorism troubling Northern Nigeria.
In a post on his X handle on Tuesday, Sadiq declared that “only a fool” would believe the ruling party has no hand in the insecurity, insisting that the “signs are too obvious for all to see.”
His comment drew a wave of reactions from citizens online, with many echoing his claims and accusing the APC of shielding and negotiating with terrorists.
One respondent, identified as SK Reuben, accused APC governments of protecting and negotiating with terrorists rather than distancing themselves from them.
He also criticised the media for often referring to attackers as “suspected terrorists” instead of naming them outright.
“APC governments never distance themselves from financing terrorists; they negotiate with them, they protect them.
“That’s why you can see mainstream media will report that suspected terrorists do this, do that. They’ll never call them terrorists directly.”
Another user, De Gong, questioned whether Nigerians were dismissing the reported decision of a Canadian court that labelled both the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as terrorist organisations.
“So you think that the Canadian court is lying by declaring APC and PDP a terrorist organisation?” he said.
Another respondent added that APC was also not free from blame in the spate of violence and insecurity in the South-East, insisting that “only a fool” would think otherwise.
The North continues to grapple with constant kidnappings and killings, while some state governments are striking peace deals with the terrorists.
