Hon. Ahmed Saba, the representative of Edu/Patigi/Moro Federal constituency in Kwara State, faced public disgrace and was labelled a thief by his constituents.
The incident occurred during the All Progressives Congress (APC) council primary election in the Edu local government area, where Saba attempted to impose a candidate preferred by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq.
According to eyewitness accounts and video evidence posted on social media, a large crowd from Saba’s hometown of Shonga publicly expressed their disapproval.
The video shows constituents shouting “Ole” (meaning “thief”) and forcibly escorting Saba out of the area.
The resistance stemmed from Saba’s support of Alhaji Abdullahi Bello Ndamugoro, the governor’s preferred candidate. Constituents rejected Ndamugoro, citing fears of another failed representation.
An eyewitness explained, “He (the lawmaker) failed his constituency woefully. Stakeholders, including Hon. Mohammed Baba Ibrahim and Alhaji Bello (Teaching Service Commission – TESCOM Chairman), attempted to impose Ndamugoro, claiming they were acting on the governor’s directives.

“However, the masses refused, leading to a disruption of the primary process. As a result, no primary election was held in Edu Local Government Area, and the consensus arrangement was rendered null and void.”
“The event exposed deep-seated resentment against the imposition of candidates, highlighting the need for a more inclusive and representative selection process.”
