Former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, has likened the leadership style of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to that of Pharaoh’s rule.
In an interview, Lamido accused the APC of weaponizing poverty against citizens, stating that hunger now “walks on the country’s streets on two feet.”
Addressing the internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Lamido urged Nigerians to give the party time to reconcile and re-strategize ahead of the 2027 elections. He emphasized that the responsibility of holding the government accountable lies not just with the PDP but with all Nigerians.

Responding to claims that political parties lack ideology and are only focused on grabbing power, Lamido rejected the notion, asserting that the PDP has a clear history and was instrumental in restoring Nigeria’s stability after military rule.

On the current state of the nation, he criticized the government’s approach to security and the economy, urging leaders to connect with ordinary citizens to understand their struggles. “Go to Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto — ask the people if they feel secure,” he said.
Lamido further accused the APC of creating a culture of dependency through handouts, stripping Nigerians of their dignity and self-esteem. He warned that the country now faces a government “of the oligarchs” and called for collective efforts to restore power to the people.
The interview was first aired on Arise TV.
