APC Has Done Well for Nigerians Despite Economic Hardship—Gov Uzodimma

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo, who also serves as the chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), asserted that despite the evident economic challenges, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has significantly benefitted Nigerians.

He made these remarks on Monday in Abuja while addressing journalists at the party’s national secretariat. Uzodimma led a delegation of PGF members to meet with the party’s leadership.

Uzodimma, speaking after a private meeting with the party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, stated that the purpose of the visit was to maintain a connection with the party’s leadership.

He emphasized that the meeting was also an opportunity to express loyalty to the party’s leadership and to extend condolences to Ganduje, who recently lost his mother-in-law, given that the governors were in Abuja.

“Politically speaking, we don’t need to over-flog the horse, the truth of the matter is that the APC has done very well in Nigeria.

“What is happening currently is a global economic problem,” the PGF chairman explained.

He added that Bola Tinubu’s administration was implementing policies to tackle the country’s current economic challenges, considering the situation he faced upon taking office.

“I am very confident that very soon, Nigerians will be jubilant about how he has managed to navigate the waters,” Mr Uzodimma said.

He further noted that the meeting was to show solidarity to the party’s national chairman and its other managers.

“Those who are serving us, the national leadership of our party, providing services, are managing our party’s day-to-day affairs.

“They are looking after the policies of the party and are in charge of its administration,” he said.

He mentioned that as crucial members and stakeholders of the party, the governors were dedicated to supporting and encouraging its leadership as a demonstration of their solidarity.

The Imo governor expressed confidence that the APC would win the upcoming Sept. 21 Edo governorship election, noting that the party held a majority.

“I am the chairman of the PGF and when I speak, I speak on behalf of my colleagues, 20 governors.

“A party like APC that is in control of 20 states out of 36, and also has produced a president and members of the Federal Executive Council in the majority.

“If the election is the game of numbers, it means the majority will win, which the other party can provide or boast of as such an asset.”

Mr. Ganduje expressed his satisfaction with the governors’ visit, calling it a significant blessing for the party. He stated that the party’s leadership was pleased and confident in the governors, committing to doing whatever it takes to maintain a strong relationship with them.

Mr. Ganduje added that since the governors were supporting and elevating the party as an institution, the leadership would, in turn, protect their interests.
