“We Have To Fear God In Our Dealings,” APC Senator Says as He Denies N3tr Budget Padding, Disowns Ningi

A brewing storm within the Northern Senators Forum has unfolded as Senator Sunday Karimi (APC, Kogi West) has come forward to challenge the claims made by the Forum’s Chairman, Senator Abdul Ningi, regarding the alleged N3 trillion unexplained component in the 2024 budget.

In a recent interview in Abuja, Senator Karimi questioned the transparency of Senator Ningi’s actions, particularly pointing out a puzzling payment of N3 million to consultants on behalf of the forum. Karimi raised concerns about the rush to the press following a meeting with the Senate President, where a report was discussed but not yet presented to the Senate for review.

Expressing his concern, Senator Karimi emphasized the importance of fearing God in all dealings, urging Senator Ningi to consider the ultimate accountability beyond earthly consequences. Karimi highlighted Ningi’s extensive experience in the National Assembly and stressed the need for accountability and integrity in public service.

Furthermore, seven members of the Northern Senators Forum issued a joint statement disavowing Senator Ningi’s statements, clarifying that his views did not represent the stance of the forum. In a statement signed by Senators Iyal Abbas (Adamawa), Ibrahim Bomoi (Yobe), Abdullahi Yar’ Adua and four others across the three Senatorial zones which make up the north, said views expressed by Ningi did not represent that of the forum.
