Senator Dino Melaye has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of trying to compromise the election in Ogori/Magongo Local Government of Kogi State.
In a statement on Saturday, Melaye said that the party was planning to use thugs and security agents to intimidate voters and rig the election.
He called on the people of Ogori/Magongo to resist the APC’s evil plans and to come out en masse to vote for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
“I am calling on the people of Ogori/Magongo to resist the APC’s evil plans to compromise the election,” Melaye said. “Do not be intimidated by their thugs and security agents. Come out en masse and vote for the PDP.”
Melaye’s accusation comes against the backdrop of allegations of irregularities in the ongoing Kogi State governorship election.
The PDP has accused the All Progressives Congress of using security agents to harass and intimidate its supporters. The party has denied these allegations.
The Kogi State governorship election is seen as a test of the APC’s popularity ahead of the 2023 general elections.
