The APC UK Chapter has come under scrutiny for circulating a doctored video aimed at masking a purported false $600 million Maersk deal involving Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government.
The fake video that the audio and video is not in sync purportedly shows the Maersk Terminals CEO, Mr. Keith Svendsen, outlining plans for a significant investment in Nigeria’s port infrastructure.
However, Parallel Facts reported that Tinubu’s special adviser on information and strategy, Onuguga, had falsely claimed the securing of a $600 million investment from Danish shipping company A.P. Moller-Maersk.
This investment was alleged to have been brokered during a meeting between Tinubu and Maersk Chairman Robert Maersk Uggla at the World Economic Forum in Saudi Arabia.
Contrary to Onuguga’s assertions, Lloyd’s List, a reputable shipping news source, stated that although Chairman Robert Uggla did meet with Tinubu, no new investment agreement was signed.
The purported doctored video, claimed that Maersk Terminals CEO had outlined plans for a $600 million investment during a visit to Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite.

According to the false report attached to the video, “In February 2024, Maersk Terminals Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Keith Svendsen detailed the company’s $600m investment commitment on a visit to the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite.”
Notably, the audio of the fake video speaks of the CEO of APM terminals, Keith Svendsen. Tinubu claims to have met Robert Uggla Maersk. Clearly two different events.
