APC Youth Leadership Candidate, Sulaimon Laments Hike in Asthma Drugs

A former contender for the position of National Youth Leader within the All Progressive Congress (APC), Comrade Sulaimon Olamide, has urged the government, under the leadership of Bola Tinubu, to assist asthmatic patients nationwide as the costs of medications for treating the condition have surged.

It is worth mentioning that Sulaimon actively campaigned for Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s controversial triumph in the 2023 presidential election.

In a video posted by Instablog, Sulaimon, who himself suffers from asthma, bemoaned the rising prices of asthma medications and appealed to the Federal government to step in.

He pointed out that the departure of certain pharmaceutical companies has contributed to the escalation in drug prices.

According to him, “Please, Nigerian government, you people should come to our rescue. For those of us who are asthmatic, we can not afford some of the drugs we used to purchase at a lower price now.

“Federal Government, you need to call GSK Company back. Before, for asthmatic patients, seretide was about N8,000, but because this company has left the country, it is now N62,500.

“Ventolin inhalers we used to buy at N1,500, but because the company is not in the country, the inhaler is now N8,500. Nigerian government, please come to our aid. My salary is just N45,000, and I must be taking these drugs.”

Reacting to the video, ex-gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Lagos, Babatunde Gbadamosi, via his X handle, recounted how he warned Sulaimon in 2020, advising him against the potential adversity and hardship that could arise if the APC emerges victorious in the election.

“Dear Sulaimon, when you reached out to me in 2020 and said LAWMA hadn’t paid you, I did what I could. When I noticed you had become an APC cheerleader, I warned you about the consequences. You went ahead. Kindly enjoy the consequences of your actions. I know you and you know that I warned you,” Gbadamosi stated.
