The Court of Appeal in Abuja has affirmed Bala Mohammed as the winner of the March 18 governorship election in Bauchi.

The court dismissed the petition filed by Sadique Abubakar of the All Progressives Congress (APC), challenging the judgment of the election tribunal which upheld Mohammed’s victory.

The Court of Appeal, in its unanimous decision, held that Mohammed’s election was validly conducted and that there was no substantial evidence to support Abubakar’s claims of malpractice. The court also ruled that the election tribunal had properly considered all the evidence before it and had reached a sound judgment.

Abubakar had alleged that Mohammed’s election was marred by irregularities, including overvoting, voter intimidation, and vote-buying. However, the Court of Appeal found that Abubakar had failed to provide sufficient evidence to support his claims.

The Court of Appeal’s decision is a major victory for Mohammed and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

It is also a setback for Abubakar and the APC, who had hoped to overturn Mohammed’s victory. #Bala
