The Court of Appeal in Lagos State has affirmed the election of Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the governor of Lagos, and dismissed the suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Abdulazeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor.
Jandor had challenged the outcome of the March 11 election, which was won by the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, Sanwo-Olu.
The three-member panel of justices, headed by Yargata Nimpar, delivered a unanimous judgement on Wednesday, rejecting the grounds of appeal raised by Jandor.
The panel upheld the verdict of the Election Petitions Tribunal, which had earlier dismissed the petitions of Jandor and the Labour Party candidate, Olufemi Gbajabiamila, on September 25.
Jandor and his party had appealed the tribunal’s decision, arguing that Sanwo-Olu and Gbajabiamila were disqualified from contesting the election, and that the election was marred by irregularities and violence.

They had sought for the nullification of the election and the declaration of Jandor as the duly elected governor of Lagos.
However, the appeal court dismissed their arguments as lacking in merit and evidence, and affirmed that Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, were validly elected by the majority of Lagosians.
The court also awarded costs against Jandor and his party for filing a frivolous appeal.
