Army Arrests Suspected Female Kidnapper in Taraba

While attempting to gather ransom for an abducted victim, a suspected female kidnapper identified as Janet Igohia, 31, was captured in Taraba by soldiers from 93 Battalion under the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army.

This was said in a statement released on Thursday by Lieutenant Oni Olubodunde, the Acting Assistant Director of 6 Brigade Army Public Relations.

According to Olubodunde, “On January 25, 2024, the troops were informed by sources about the activities of extremist groups and insurgents in the Chanchanji and Sai communities on their plans to move to a drop zone where relatives of abducted victims were directed to drop ransom money.

“Based on this information, troops deployed at Chanchanji laid in wait at the suspected area and at about 10:00 am, Janet Igohia was arrested after picking up the sum of one million, five hundred thousand naira (N1,500,000.00), which was only being paid as ransom for an abducted victim,” he said.

The suspected kidnapper, Igohia, disclosed in a statement that she is married to a notorious criminal identified as Voryor Gata. she also revealed that she had gotten married to late Gana Terwase, another notorious criminal who was killed during Joint Special Force Operation three years ago.

Olubodunde further added that two more alleged gunrunners were captured by troops stationed in the Mararaba Baissa community of the Donga Local Government Area.

According to Olubodunde, the Brigade is dedicated to protecting public safety by taking down all criminal organisations that are active in Taraba State. #Army
