Army Kills Three Bandits, Recovers Weapons in Kaduna

The Nigerian Army has announced that its troops killed three bandits and recovered weapons in different operations in Kaduna State.

According to a statement by the army spokesman, Lt-Col Musa Yahaya, the troops of the I Division Nigerian Army and Operation Whirl Punch carried out a clearance operation around the general area of Maro-Chibiya forest in Kajuru local government area on November 12.

The statement said the troops engaged the armed bandits with superior firepower, killing one of them and forcing others to flee with gunshot wounds into the surrounding forest.

The troops also seized one AK-47 rifle, one locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, four 7.62mm (Special) rounds of ammunition, and one mobile phone.

The statement further Stated that on November 10, the troops, while on clearance operation at Kawara and Filin Jalo villages in Igabi LGA, encountered bandits at Kawara forest. In the ensuing firefight, the troops killed one bandit and recovered one AK-47 rifle loaded with quantity 30 of 7.62mm (special) ammunition, one motorcycle and one techno phone.

Another clearance operation was conducted at Mai-Kulu-Gwanda, Rafin Gora, Funtua Badadi and Kabawa villages, all in Birnin Gwari LGA, the statement added, noting that the troops killed one bandit and captured one Boafeng radio and a motorcycle.

The army said the operations were part of its efforts to rid the state of banditry and other criminal activities. It also urged the public to provide useful information that could assist the troops in their operations.
