Army, Vigilantes Rescue Four Victims Abducted By Bandits in Kebbi

Collaborative action between the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups has resulted in the rescue of four individuals who had been abducted by bandits in the vicinity of Bangi Hill, situated within the Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi.

This was contained in a statement by the Special Adviser to Governor Nasir Idris on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, issued in Birnin Kebbi today.

Army Rescue Victims

The rescue operation, which involved the combined efforts of security forces, took place on Wednesday and resulted in the safe recovery of the abducted victims.

“At about 4:00 p.m. on Nov. 1, 2023, gallant troops of 1 Battalion Dukku Barrack, Birinin Kebbi, in conjunction with local vigilantes, conducted a fighting patrol to Bangi Hill in Suru LGA.

“During the operation, the team dislodged a large number of bandits and rescued four kidnapped victims,” it said.

The statement enumerated the individuals who were rescued, namely Malam Audu Fulani, aged 45; Umaru Wakili, aged 14; Alhaji Malam Imam, aged 50; and Chaggo Garba, aged 19.

It mentioned that following the governor’s provision of enhanced logistical support, security agencies have achieved notable victories against criminal elements in the state.
