Assist Nigeria With Cutting-Edge Technology to Tackle Insecurity, Not Issue Threats That Could Further Polarise Our Country—Kwankwaso Tells US

Former presidential candidate and leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed concern over recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding Nigeria.

Trump had recently designated Nigeria as a “country of particular concern,” sparking diplomatic debate and reactions across the nation.

In a statement posted on his X handle on Sunday, Kwankwaso said he has been following with “increasing concern” the tone of President Trump’s comments.

“Nigeria is a sovereign nation facing security challenges caused by criminal elements, not driven by religious or ethnic divisions. The insecurity we face does not distinguish based on religious, ethnic, or political beliefs,” he said.

Kwankwaso urged the United States to assist Nigeria with advanced technological support in tackling insecurity rather than issuing threats that could further escalate tensions.

“The United States should assist the Nigerian authorities with better cutting-edge technology to tackle these problems, rather than posing a threat that could further polarise our country,” he stated.

He also advised the Federal Government to engage Washington through diplomatic channels by appointing special envoys and strengthening its representation abroad.

“The Nigerian government should consider appointing special envoys from its distinguished diplomats to engage the American government. Additionally, it is necessary to appoint permanent ambassadors to represent Nigeria’s interests on the international stage,” he said.

Kwankwaso further called for unity among Nigerians, urging citizens to prioritise national cohesion during this critical period.

“To my fellow countrymen, this is an important moment where we should emphasise unity of belonging over division. God bless Nigeria,” he added.
