Atiku Knocks Tinubu Over Fuel Subsidy Crisis, Calls Him ‘TPain’

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has knocked Bola Tinubu’s management of the fuel subsidy crisis, mockingly referring to him as “TPain” in a tweet on Thursday.

Atiku blamed Nigeria’s current economic challenges on what he called the Tinubu administration’s “haphazard and disingenuous” approach to handling fuel subsidies.

He expressed concern over rising inflation, highlighting its severe impact on Nigerians’ daily lives.

Atiku also lamented that despite the worsening hardships, Tinubu seems indifferent to the struggles of the people.

“The haphazard and disingenuous approach of the current administration to fuel subsidy management has been the reason we are in this current economic crisis in the country.

“As things stand, there will be no let up in the escalating inflation rate, which is drowning the material well-being of Nigerians.

“It is even more worrying that T-pain is undisturbed by the hardship in the country,” Atiku wrote.

The nickname “TPain” for Tinubu originated as a play on the first letter of his name and a reference to the American rapper and producer T-Pain. It reflects public frustration over the increasing cost of living during his administration.

According to Peoples Gazette, the term first appeared on social media in April 2024.

However, it gained widespread attention around September 16, after a user on X used it in a post about the President’s visit to Maiduguri to console flood victims.

Since then, the nickname has gained popularity across platforms like X and Instagram.
