This visit comes just three days after Atiku visited former military heads of state, General Ibrahim Babangida and General Abdulsalami Abubakar, at their homes in Minna, Niger State. Announcing these visits on his X account, he said, “Today, I paid Sallah homage to former Heads of State Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (rtd) and Gen. Abdusalami at their residences in Minna, Niger State.”

These visits have sparked speculation that Atiku is preparing for another run in the 2027 presidential election. He has been vocal about his intention to continue contesting for the presidency as long as he remains healthy. In May, he stated, “As long as I am healthy, I will continue to contest for the presidency.”

There are also ongoing discussions about forming a coalition with other political figures, including Peter Obi from the Labour Party and other parties. This move is seen as a strategic effort to strengthen his political base and increase his chances in future elections.

Atiku’s recent visits to prominent Nigerian leaders have been closely watched by political analysts and the public alike. His meetings with Buhari, Babangida, and Abdulsalami suggest a series of consultations and alignments ahead of the next electoral cycle. These engagements may play a crucial role in shaping the political landscape as Atiku gears up for his next political move.

His latest round of visits indicates a proactive approach to building alliances and seeking counsel from influential figures in Nigerian politics. Whether these efforts will translate into electoral success remains to be seen, but they undoubtedly keep Atiku at the center of political discourse in Nigeria.
