Aviation Minister Laments Begging, Extortion at Nigerian International Airports by Staff

On Sunday, the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, condemned reports of begging and extortion at international airports across the country by unscrupulous individuals.

In a post on his official X handle, the Minister expressed concern that the actions of staff begging and extorting travelers are tarnishing the nation’s image.

He noted that his cell phone is inundated with messages from concerned citizens who continuously complain about the issue.

The Minister clarified that “most of the agencies involved in this menace are not under the control of the Aviation Ministry, though they are stationed at our airports.

“However, I have been working closely with other Ministers, arms of government and agencies who are responsible for these agencies and a solution is in sight soon”.’
