Dozens of residents have been displaced as terrorists launched a coordinated attack on ten communities in Kidandan, Giwa Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State.
Giwa, one of the LGAs already grappling with the pervasive wave of insecurity in the North West part of Nigeria, witnessed an unsettling escalation as residents were forced to relocate to Kidandan main town and other presumably safer communities in the LGA.
The affected villages, including Tunburktu Hayin Dabino, Mugaba, Nasarawan Hayin Doka, Dokan Yuna, Doka, and Hayin Teacher, now bear the scars of this recent bandit onslaught.
Abdullahi Ismail, the Councilor Representing Kidandan Ward, confirmed the incident, expressing his frustration at the persistent bandit terror despite ongoing military operations in the area over the past three weeks.
Another community leader, opting to remain anonymous, revealed that residents, fearing for their safety, left behind their homes and foodstuffs due to the relentless intimidation and harassment by the bandits.
He equally disclosed that six bandits met their end at the hands of soldiers operating in the area on Tuesday.
He explained that although residents were happy with the killing of the bandits, they were hesitant to celebrate openly.
While the residents welcomed this development, killing of the bandits, they remained cautious in openly celebrating.
He equally emphasised on the need for increased security presence to protect other vulnerable villages from displacement.
