Bandits Kill 4 Police Officers, 20 Others in Rampage in Buhari’s Home State, Katsina

A brutal attack by armed bandits in Katsina, the home state of former president Muhammadu Buhari has left 26 people dead and 2 injured. The attack, which occurred on June 10, 2024, targeted villages in the Kankara Local Government Area.

According to ASP Sadiq Abubakar, the spokesperson of the Katsina State Police Command, the gunmen, riding on motorcycles, launched their attack on Gidan Boka village, where they killed 15 innocent villagers.

During the incident, a police patrol team responding to a distress call near Kurmeji village was ambushed by the bandits. The attack resulted in the deaths of four police officers, which included three inspectors and one corporal. Additionally, two members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC) were also killed.

The bandits continued their rampage as they fled, killing five more villagers in Dan Nakwabo village on their way to their hideouts.

Musa Aliyu, the Katsina State Commissioner of Police, expressed his deep sorrow over the tragic incident. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the victims.

The Commissioner assured that the police command is collaborating with all relevant stakeholders to prevent further occurrences of such attacks.
