A group of armed bandits, late Sunday evening, took the lives of at least 20 individuals and kidnapped numerous others during an attack on Muslim worshipers who were celebrating Maulud in the community of Kusa, located in the Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to reports, the attackers, in a significant number, launched their assault on the unsuspecting residents at approximately 11:05 p.m., casting the village into a state of chaos and grief.
A vigilante member who confirmed the unfortunate incident to DAILY POST said, “The bandits surrounded the venue of the Maulud celebration and fired gunshots at the participants, injuring many and took several captives to an unknown location. Before the security forces could respond to the distress call, the assailants had disappeared into their hideouts. After the attack, we found 20 corpses inside the village.”

Confirming the report, the police spokesman in Katsina, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said, “Yes, there was an attack in Musawa LGA around 11 p.m. while people were having Maulud procession. Bandits attacked, shot, and injured 18 people. They were evacuated to the hospital for treatment. Later on, two of them died. Further investigation is ongoing for possible arrest and to bring the perpetrators of these acts to justice.”
