FC Barcelona has confirmed that their star striker Robert Lewandowski has suffered a sprained left ankle. The injury occurred during Barcelona’s 1-0 win over Porto in the Champions League, where Lewandowski had to leave the field early after receiving a knock to the ankle.
The injury could potentially cause Lewandowski to miss more than just Sunday’s La Liga fixture against Granada. Initial reports suggested that Lewandowski would only miss the meeting with Granada and then be fit after resting over the international break.
However, recent reports from SPORT indicate that he could be out “for more than a month” which would mean missing the much-anticipated El Clasico. This comes as a significant blow to Barcelona, as Lewandowski has been a key player for them this season.
The team is yet to comment on who might replace Lewandowski in the lineup. However, they have expressed their support for Lewandowski and wish him a speedy recovery.
