Bauchi Emirate Deposes Six Traditional Titleholders for Violating Turbaning Guidelines

The Bauchi Emirate Council has deposed six newly appointed traditional titleholders in the Galambi District Area.

The move followed concerns raised about the turbaning process of these traditional rulers, which the council claims did not conform to established guidelines.

The District Head of Galambi, Alhaji Shehu Adamu Jumba, who also holds the title of Danlawal of Bauchi Emirate, had appointed and turbaned several traditional rulers, including Galadiman Danlawal, Majidadin Danlawal, Wakilin Dokan Danlawal, Wakilin Gonan Danlawal, Sarkin Dajin Danlawal, and Hardon Danlawal. However, this action was met with disapproval from the Emirate Council.

The decision to strip these traditional rulers of their titles was announced during the council meeting and conveyed in a statement by Malam Babangida Hassan Jahun, the Chief Information Officer of the Bauchi Emirate Council.

As part of the consequences, the District Head of Galambi has been barred from making such appointments for a period of one year, commencing from November 7, 2023.

Moreover, the district head has been given clear directives to adhere strictly to the established guidelines for all future turbaning processes.
