Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has urged Nigerians to remain prayerful amid the worsening hunger and economic hardship facing the nation. Speaking during the annual Ramadan public lecture held at the Lagos Central Mosque, the governor emphasized the need for focused prayers to overcome the current economic challenges.
Represented by his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of patience with the government and called for unity in tackling the nation’s economic woes. He encouraged leaders to devise policies beneficial to the economy and urged citizens to refrain from spreading toxicity, especially on social media platforms.
Acknowledging the withdrawal of subsidies as a tough but necessary step, Governor Sanwo-Olu affirmed the government’s commitment to steering the nation in the right direction. He expressed optimism that with perseverance and prayer, the situation would improve.
Guest lecturer Sheikh Mujitaba Giwa echoed the governor’s sentiments, urging Nigerians to be patient and prayerful during these challenging times. He attributed the economic downturn to divine tests faced by nations, emphasizing the need for adherence to godly principles.
Sheikh Giwa advocated for the decentralization of mineral resource management, proposing that states should be allowed to manage their resources independently. He emphasized the importance of seeking Allah’s guidance and following His will to overcome adversity.
