The media office of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has appealed to Chief Bola Tinubu to step into the ongoing dispute between the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the ex-governor.
In a statement signed by Ohiare Michael, the media office criticized the EFCC’s recent actions, describing them as biased.
The office urged Tinubu to ensure that the fight against corruption remains fair and impartial.
According to Michael, the anti-graft agency’s approach to the bid to arrest the former governor was more of an “embarrassment” to the agency.
Michael further alleged that the EFCC’s attempts to arrest Bello were motivated by personal and political interests rather than a genuine effort to combat corruption.
“If the EFCC was truly interested in prosecution, would the agency not have taken him in on that day?” the statement questioned.
This development comes after the EFCC declared Yahaya Bello wanted following his recent visit to the commission’s office.
The former governor, accompanied by Governor Ododo and several prominent figures, was allowed to leave without being questioned.
