In a bid to enhance security measures, Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has called on the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS) to actively engage in combating crime within the state.
The governor, speaking at the closure of a four-day capacity training at the 72 Special Forces Battalion in Makurdi, emphasized the importance of hunters sharpening their skills.
Benue Governor urged the NHFSS operatives to be visible and collaborate with existing security agencies while respecting the human rights of law-abiding citizens. Contrary to some perceptions, he asserted that relative peace has been restored in the state.
“I am sure that the capacity training you have received has sharpened your skills,” Governor Alia affirmed, encouraging them to complement the efforts of other security agencies.
Special Adviser on Security and Internal Matters, Joseph Har, applauded the NHFSS’s active role in the state, citing their recent success in apprehending six individuals involved in various criminal activities.
