Betty Akeredolu, wife of former Ondo State Governor, slams INEC Chairman in a tweet, saying, “When dishonesty is prioritized, simple things become difficult,” while comparing Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election vote-counting process to the U.S. 2024 election.
She highlighted that Nigeria took five days to count 25 million votes, while the U.S. processed 155 million votes in roughly ten hours, Anyanwu-Akeredolu’s message sparked debate on the transparency and efficiency of Nigeria’s electoral process.
Her pointed remark, “When dishonesty is prioritized, simple things become difficult,” was interpreted as a rebuke of Nigeria’s electoral management and an implicit critique of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
