In a landmark ruling today, Oluwafeyiropo Daniel, popularly known as Bishop Feyi and the founder of I Reign Christian Ministry, has been sentenced to life Imprisonment after being pronounced guilty of raping his assistant pastor.
The verdict was delivered at the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, under the jurisdiction of Justice Rahman Oshodi.
The court had diligently reviewed the case, reserving judgment on January 11 after concluding the hearings regarding the allegations against Bishop Feyi.
The charges encompassed the rape of his assistant pastor, another individual, and the attempted rape of a third person, all purportedly occurring in June 2020 at Ikota Villa Estate, Lekki, Lagos.
The prosecution invoked Sections 260 (2), 262, and 263 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015, presenting a compelling case against the accused.
Despite pleading not guilty to the amended four-count charge, including rape, sexual assault, and attempted rape, the defense, represented by Mr. Fola Awonusi, argued for the defendant’s discharge and acquittal on January 11.
Mr. Awonusi contended that the presented documents indicated malice and financial motivations on the part of the alleged survivors.
