Politicians Driving N150m Cars but Won’t Agree to Pay N60,000 Minimum Wage—Bishop Kwarshi Laments

Bishop Kwarshi

Archbishop Benjamin Kwarshi, a prominent cleric, has criticized Nigerian leaders for their indulgence in opulence and lack of concern for the people they claim to represent.

Speaking at an event in Adamawa State on Saturday, the retired Anglican Bishop of Jos emphasized that selfish individuals in positions of power need prayers to transform and become true leaders.

As the Guest Speaker at the public presentation of the Bwatiye New Testament Bible in Numan, Kwarshi also accused some church leaders of materialism.

“I don’t know how our politicians will buy a car at N150 million and say N60,000 a month is too much for a worker,” he said, adding, “I pray that God will speak to our leaders.”

Expressing hope that the Bwatiye New Testament Bible will foster deeper unity among the Bwatiye people, he urged Christians to undertake more projects such as Bible translation in local languages and to reject avarice.

According to DAILY POST, the Bwatiye people are located in the Numan, Demsa, Girei, Fufore, and Lamurde local government areas of Adamawa State.

At the event, the organizers stated that the translated Bible aims to reach more Bwatiye people with Christian literature that resonates personally with them.

Providing a brief history of the project, Bishop Bulus Taiya, one of the project managers, explained that the initiative began in 2011 and overcame numerous challenges to come to fruition.
