Social media personality Okuneye Idris, widely known as Bobrisky, was removed from a KLM flight bound for Amsterdam and detained by immigration officers late Thursday night as he attempted to leave the country.
Bobrisky informed his followers of the incident in an Instagram post, stating that he had sustained injuries during a confrontation with the officers.
Bobrisky, seen in a viral video, alleges that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is responsible for his detention.
He wrote, “Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured.”
On October 22, Bobrisky was reportedly detained at the Sème border while allegedly trying to leave the country.
The controversies surrounding Bobrisky began in April 2024, following a six-month prison sentence issued by the Federal High Court in Lagos for naira abuse. ‘
While he was officially remanded to Kirikiri Prison, reports soon suggested he only remained there for three weeks before being quietly moved to a private location.

This triggered widespread speculation that his early transfer and favorable treatment were obtained through bribery, with accusations circulating of a ₦15 million payment to officials to facilitate the arrangement.
The situation further escalated in late September 2024 when social media influencer VeryDarkMan posted an audio clip allegedly featuring Bobrisky.
In the leaked recording, Bobrisky supposedly claimed that musician Falz and his father, human rights lawyer Femi Falana, approached him during his imprisonment, asking for ₦10 million in exchange for securing a presidential pardon.
In response, Falana and Falz issued a cease-and-desist letter on October 16, 2024, demanding a retraction and public apology, calling the statements defamatory.
Bobrisky, however, denied making these statements, asserting that he was not responsible for the leaked recording and urging the Falanas to hold VeryDarkMan accountable instead.
