An investigative report has revealed that social media influencer and crossdresser Bobrisky spent only three weeks of his six-month prison sentence behind bars, with the remainder of the time spent at a secret location.
Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, the Nigerian crossdresser commonly known as Bobrisky, served just three weeks of his sentence, according to the FIJ report.
This revelation follows a Tuesday announcement by social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan. He shared an audio recording in which Bobrisky allegedly claimed to have spent most of his sentence outside of prison and suggested that he paid operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) N15 million to drop the money laundering charge against him.
According to the FIJ report, while Bobrisky was taken to Kirikiri prison in April following the announcement of his sentence, the report states that he left after just three weeks.
‘GUARDED LIKE A PRESIDENT’
The report also notes that during the three weeks he spent in prison, Bobrisky was treated with special care, akin to being “guarded like a president,” before being moved out.
GWG.ng further reported that upon his release, Bobrisky appeared notably chubby, prompting speculation about whether he had become pregnant while in custody.
“Bob spent only three weeks here with us in Kirikiri before she was taken out to another place we don’t know,” a prison official told FIJ. “That was where she spent her time; it was an ‘arrangee thing’. And money was involved.”
The source also told FIJ how Bobrisky was “guarded like a president” until she was “secretly taken away after three weeks”.
“She received VIP treatment all through,” said the source. “She lived in a special cell. The money she said she paid is actually true; no lies. Yes, she paid the money.”
The revelations from the source align with a 2019 undercover investigation by FIJ founder ‘Fisayo Soyombo. In that investigation, Soyombo intentionally had himself detained for five days by the police and imprisoned for eight days by the prison service.
He discovered that it was possible to pay for well-furnished apartments within the prison, bring in phones, drugs, and other prohibited items, have one’s name removed from prison records, and even live outside the prison while ostensibly serving a jail term.
‘ VIDEO CALL CAMERA ON BOBRISKY’
Although prison authorities restricted Bobrisky’s interactions with other inmates, which diminished the chances of her disappearance being noticed, a prison official revealed a significant incident to FIJ.
“There was this day one guy was on a video call with his girlfriend, and he suddenly turned the camera on Bobrisky,” the official said. “It was deemed an invasion of Bobrisky’s privacy, so, as punishment, he was locked up in his cell for nearly two months.”
The source added: “As I said, she was heavily guarded, so there weren’t many of such incidents to point at. And she was quietly taken away after three weeks.”
