Bodies of several slain police officers, drawn from IRT Abuja, PMF 51 Oghara, and the Anti-Kidnapping Squad in Asaba, Delta State, have been found by a joint effort of security personnel and local vigilantes in Ughelli North Local Government Area. The officers were deployed to rescue three missing colleagues in Ohoror community.
Reliable sources revealed that the combined team conducted operations in the forest on Sunday and Monday, ultimately recovering some of the bodies.
The tragic incident traces back to January 24, 2024, when three police inspectors responded to a distress call from Moses Progress, who claimed to have been robbed by suspected herdsmen while performing a ritual under a nearby bridge.
Sadly, the three officers never returned.
The alleged killing of the six officers and the disappearance of 15 others were substantiated by a police inspector who managed to escape from the captors several days later.
While the Delta State police authorities have maintained silence on the matter, the bodies of some of the slain officers were discovered over the weekend by a joint team of local vigilantes scouring the forest.
