Bola Tinubu Appoints Bayo Onanuga As Special Adviser

Bayo Onanuga, a spokesperson for Bola Tinubu’s 2023 election campaign, has been appointed as Special Adviser on Information and Strategy by his principal, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This was disclosed in a statement released on Friday night by the presidential spokesperson, Chief Ajuri Ngelale.

The statement reads, “As part of efforts to prioritize effective and efficient working synergy between the Presidency and Federal Ministries, President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointments of professionals who have prior working experience within the architecture of the Federal Ministries they will be coordinating with, in addition to duties that will be carried out at the President’s discretion: Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Ms. Delu Bulus Yakubu. The President wishes the new presidential aides well in the discharge of their duties.”

Some had speculated that Bayo Onanuga would be appointed a minister because of the role he played in the campaign for APC and actively for Bola Tinubu, and because of the work he had recently done to defend Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the wake of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s forgery case. Bola Tinubu nonetheless made a number of appointments without mentioning him.

Onanuga, however, continued to support the president, most recently in relation to the controversy surrounding the certificates from Chicago State University.
