By Bombing Benin Republic, You’ve Set a Dangerous Precedent That Could Invite Foreign Airstrikes on Nigeria — Gbadamosi Tells Tinubu

A former Lagos governorship candidate and political commentator, Babatunde Gbadamosi, has slammed Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent military intervention in the Benin Republic, warning that it sets a dangerous precedent for foreign interference in Nigeria.

Gbadamosi made the remarks in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, following Nigeria’s deployment of fighter jets and troops to support President Patrice Talon’s government during a failed coup attempt in Cotonou on 7 December 2025.

In his post, Gbadamosi asked, “By rushing to bomb your smaller neighbour over their internal matter, do you not realise that you have unwittingly made it legal for a bigger nation to likewise bomb you for matters internal to you?”

He argued that the intervention, though requested by Benin, contrasts sharply with Nigeria’s recent insistence on protecting its sovereignty against potential foreign interference, highlighting a perceived inconsistency in policy.
