A 23-year-old man, known as Saidi, has been detained on suspicion of murdering his father, Chief Musa Elemosho, who held the title of Elemosho of Shareland in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Saidi was brought before Magistrate Muhammed Dasuki and charged with culpable homicide, a single-count offence. As per the First Information Report, Saidi alleged that “his father was verbally abusing him for no apparent reason while they were in the living room. Agitated by his father’s harsh words, Saidi attacked him with a cutlass, striking him multiple times on the head until he died, after which he fled to a mountain in Share.”

The police prosecutor, Sgt Abdullah Sanni, informed the court that the case was non-bailable. He requested the court consider the motion ex parte attached to the FIR and order Saidi’s remand in a correctional facility.
In response to the prosecutor’s request, the magistrate ordered Saidi to be remanded and adjourned the case until January 9, 2024. # Kwara
