Road Accident Claims Seven SDP Members in Kogi State

In a somber turn of events, the Kogi State Police Command has confirmed that a bus accident occurred in Okura, Ankpa local government area, resulting in the loss of seven lives of SDP members on Saturday.

Initially, the State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Samuel Oyedeji, reported three fatalities from the incident.

However, in a subsequent and late response on the same day, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Aya, revised the toll, confirming that seven individuals tragically lost their lives in the unfortunate crash.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges surrounding road safety in the region.

“It was a lone fatal motor accident along Ankpa/Okura/Egume/Ayingba Road that involved a Toyota Hiace Bus,” Aya stated.

While unable to verify the identities of the victims, sources indicated that they belonged to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and were en route to Ayingba for a stakeholder meeting.

Upon reaching out, the spokesperson for the SDP Governorship Campaign in the State, Faruk Adejo-Audu, claimed to be unaware of the accident but assured our correspondent that he would investigate and provide information. Regrettably, as of the current report, Adejo-Audu has not fulfilled this commitment.
