BREAKING: CAF Delists Libya vs Nigeria AFCON Qualifier Amidst Controversy

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has removed the Group D second-leg fixture of the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Libya’s Mediterranean Knights from its schedule.

The match was initially set to take place in Libya at 8 p.m., following the first leg at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday.

In the first leg, the Super Eagles secured a last-minute 1-0 victory over the Mediterranean Knights.

However, the return leg became controversial after Super Eagles players and officials recounted a difficult 14-hour ordeal at the Libyan airport, which ultimately forced them to return home.

Meanwhile, CAF announced that it has launched an investigation into the incident after the Libyan Football Federation accused Nigeria of sabotage and threatened legal action.

The African football governing body also updated the list of games scheduled for Tuesday, excluding the Libya vs. Nigeria match, in a post on its X handle.
