The statement did not give any reason for the governor’s decision, but instructed the sacked officials to hand over any government property in their possession to the next most senior person in their institutions.

The statement also announced the cancellation of the recruitment exercise that was carried out by the tertiary institutions in 2022 and early 2023, which had been suspended. It said that a new recruitment process for all the institutions would be advertised soon.

The governor expressed his appreciation to the chairman and members of the dissolved Governing Council for their service to the state and wished them well in their future endeavors.
