You Are Offended by Calls for Tinubu’s Impeachment Despite It Being Constitutionally Provided – Inibehe Effiong Knocks Reuben Abati’s Critics

Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong has slammed critics of veteran journalist Reuben Abati following his statement that the suspension of Fubara and his deputy by Tinubu is an impeachable offence.

He made the assertion on Wednesday during the Arise Television’s Morning Show programme. He argued that a governor cannot be removed from office by the proclamation of the president of Nigeria.

Following his statement, Abati has been faced with myraids of criticism.

He queried that people can get offended due to a call for Tinubu’s impeachment while the same set of people are at the same time defending Tinubu for suspending a Governor and a Deputy Governor despite that there is no constitutional provision that allows for it.

His post reads,”Dr. Reuben Abati is being attacked online by surrogates and supporters of President Tinubu for rightfully stating that Tinubu has committed an impeachable offence.

“So, you are offended by calls for Tinubu’s impeachment despite that impeachment of a President is constitutionally provided for, but you are at the same time defending Tinubu for suspending a Governor and a Deputy Governor despite that there is no constitutional provision that allows for it.

“Impeachment of a President that is constitutionally allowed should not be discussed, but the unconstitutional suspension of the governor is acceptable to you. We have a lot of evil people masquerading as citizens in this country,” he added.
