Renowned Nigerian singer and social activist, Charles Oputa, known by his stage name Charly Boy, has criticized Chief Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, for his remarks about Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
Onanuga had taken to his verified X handle to call out Peter Obi for not commenting on the Supreme Court’s recent judgement granting financial autonomy to Nigeria’s 774 local governments.
In his post on Friday, Onanuga questioned why Obi had remained silent for more than 36 hours after the ruling.
Onanuga wrote, “Why is Peter Obi silent?
“More than 36 hours after the Supreme Court gave a landmark ruling, granting financial autonomy to Nigeria’s 774 local councils, Mr. Peter Obi, the defeated Labour Party candidate, has yet to utter a word on the epochal judgment.
“His silence confirms the belief that he is always quick to tweet unverified news about the Tinubu administration or our country,” he added.
However, this criticism did not sit well with supporters of Peter Obi, who took to the comment section to express their displeasure.
Charly Boy responded to Onanuga’s post, questioning, “Why are you so shameless”?
This comment was echoed by others who also criticized the presidential aide for his remarks.
