Sallah: Tension as Chief Imam’s Sacrificial Ram Stolen in Plateau State on Eve of Eid al-Adha

In a surprising and unfortunate event, the sacrificial ram belonging to the Chief Imam of Mista Ali community in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Imam Abdulkadir, was stolen just a day before the Eid al-Adha celebrations.

Malam Haruna Yaqub, another Imam in the community, disclosed the incident during his sermon following the two Raka’at prayers. He condemned the theft, highlighting its insensitivity given the religious significance of the sacrificial ram.

Yaqub lamented, “The Ram of our Chief Imam, which he purposely bought to sacrifice, has been stolen in the night. We are really shocked by the incident. We were surprised to hear this story.

“This means that people are not God-fearing. It is scary that people have gone to the extent of stealing a ram meant for religious activity.”
