Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga has reacted to the Investigation on former CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele’s misappropriation of funds and other offences report, stating that if he were in China, Emefiele would face firing squad.
Posting on X, Onanuga stated, “If Godwin Emefiele and his gang had committed these egregious misappropriations in China, they will by now be facing the firing squad for high treason.”
This statement comes in response to the findings of the Special Investigation on CBN and Related Entities, Chargeable Offences report, led by Jim Obazee.
According to the report, Emefiele has been accused of misappropriating funds during his tenure as CBN governor. Among the allegations is the opening of bank accounts without the approval of the apex bank’s Board of Directors and Investment Committee.

The report further claims that Emefiele illegally deposited billions of naira in approximately 593 bank accounts in the United States, United Kingdom, and China.
Jim Obazee’s investigation revealed that Emefiele allegedly deposited £543,482,213 in fixed deposits in UK banks alone without proper authorization.
