Anna Paulina Luna, the United States Representative for Florida’s 13th congressional district, has condemned the silence that has greeted the systematic killing of Christians in Nigeria.
In a post on X, the US Air Force Veteran said that if these Christians were any other group, there would be global outrage.
“Christians are being hunted and slaughtered in Nigeria for their faith — and the world stays silent. If this were any other group, there’d be global outrage”, she wrote.

There are many unfolding tragedies around the world—wars in Israel and Ukraine, brutal conflicts in Sudan and India. The sheer weight of so much human suffering can make us numb, even calloused.
But while the world’s attention shifts from crisis to crisis, something of staggering proportions is happening with little notice: a genocide against Christians in Nigeria, carried out by Islamic militants.

The violence is escalating. In just the first 220 days of 2025, an estimated 7,000 Christians were killed in Nigeria—an average of thirty-five deaths every single day, according to the International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law.
These attacks are carried out by radical groups and Fulani militants, often aligned with Islamist extremist ideologies.

Since 2009, Boko Haram and ISWAP (the Islamic State—West Africa Province) have waged jihad campaigns. In that time, more than 50,000 Christians have been killed, and thousands of churches have been burned.
Although much of the world and certainly the mainstream media have largely ignored the plight of these Christains in Nigeria, Rep Anna is now demanding that the world speak up against it.
