Diplomatic efforts between the two nations have intensified, with officials meeting in Turkey on Thursday to discuss disputes over their respective embassies—a step seen as a test for resetting broader relations. The discussions also included finding ways to end the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Under the previous U.S. administration, relations between Washington and Moscow had deteriorated, with the Kremlin describing them as “below zero.”

However, President Donald Trump, has moved swiftly to open talks with Russia, pledging to bring a quick resolution to the war.

The two leaders have reportedly spoken by phone to discuss the conflict, with both sides signaling a willingness to cooperate. However, Putin cautioned that some Western elites might attempt to undermine the dialogue.

Despite ongoing negotiations, the Kremlin has ruled out any discussion regarding the status of five Ukrainian regions that Russia claims to have annexed, despite not fully controlling four of them.

“The territories which have become subjects of the Russian Federation, which are inscribed in our country’s constitution, are an inseparable part of our country,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed.
