An accident occurred during the early hours of Saturday near Mowe along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, resulting in the tragic loss of three lives.
Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), stated that the incident was caused by a container falling off a truck bearing registration number T-1563 LA.
The container trapped the three victims, who were occupants of a Howo truck lacking registration details. Okpe attributed the accident to dangerous driving, which led to a loss of control.
Despite efforts by the FRSC rescue team to save the driver and two passengers, they succumbed to their injuries due to the impact of the accident.
The deceased have been transported to the Idera morgue in Sagamu.

The statement partly reads, “The FRSC operatives at Mowe carried out a rescue operation at about 0107 hrs on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway around Mowe, involving two vehicles (trucks) with registration number T-15636LA Bluebird and a HowoTruck with no number on it.”
“03 Persons were involved, all male adults, and they were all killed by the container that fell and rested on the occupants of the HOWO truck. The suspected cause of the crash was dangerous driving and loss of control.”
“The operatives tried to rescue the trapped victims, but unfortunately, the driver and two other people in front of the vehicle died. The death bodies were taken to Idera morgue, Sagamu.
“A tow truck was contacted to pull off the truck to ease traffic flow, and a crane was also contacted to remove the container off the road.”
Meanwhile, the FRSC has recommended that drivers adopt a defensive driving approach, prioritizing the safety of fellow road users to prevent accidents. The organization emphasized the importance of anticipating the behavior of other drivers, refraining from risky maneuvers, and consistently adhering to traffic laws and regulations.
