Protests: Use Your Intelligence to Sieve Out Criminals; Convince Nigerians With Creative Solutions — Rep Tells Tinubu

Rep. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo, representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency of Anambra State in the House of Representatives, has called on Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take decisive and sustainable actions to address the challenges facing Nigerians.

In a statement released by his Media Office on Wednesday, Okonkwo emphasised that the nation’s current struggles require immediate and effective solutions.

He urged Tinubu to “absorb the heat as renewed strength” and to use it as a driving force to eliminate nepotism, reduce the opulence of governance, cut down on the costs associated with it, and address the rising tide of hate speech.

Okonkwo stated, “The hard truth is significant, that actions are the only wheels that bring results. He [Tinubu] must absorb the heat as renewed strength to take actions to clean the stains of nepotism, reset the optics of palace grandeur cut the costs of governance, and rein in the hordes of hate spinners pretending to love him more. Nigeria is his beat and every Nigerian, is his employer.

“He [Tinubu] should proceed now to persuade Nigerians better by tested actions that will mitigate these afflictions decisively and sustainability.”

The lawmaker also called on security agencies to exercise empathy and respect while dealing with citizens, urging them to protect the legitimate rights of people to express dissent or approval.

He added, “It is a critical challenge to their call of duty and capacity for intelligence to skillfully sieve out the criminals and deal with them promptly, while they protect the legitimacy of citizens to show dissent or approval. They should note that these people protest for them too, since they are barred by law from expressing their own frustrations publicly.”
