Corrupt Youths Wallowing in Cybercrime Hinder Nigeria’s Prosperity, EFCC Chief Olukoyede Insists

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has emphasized that Nigeria and Africa cannot achieve their future potential if the youth continue to engage in corruption and cybercrime.

Olukoyede’s remarks were delivered by the assistant commander of the EFCC, Ibadan zonal directorate, Hauwa Garba Ringim, at the 2024 Royal African Young Leadership Forum (RAYLF) Award ceremony, held at the Obafemi Awolowo University over the weekend.

Olukoyede stated, “Greater prospects for Nigeria and Africa in the future will not be attainable if our youths continue to wallow in corruption and cybercrime.

“African youths, especially Nigerian youths, must demonstrate exceptional innovation and dedication in order to make positive impact in the society,” he added.

He further stressed the need for African, especially Nigerian, youths to demonstrate exceptional innovation and dedication to positively impact society.

The EFCC’s statement, published on Wednesday, has sparked reactions from netizens, who urged the agency to focus more on tackling the corruption of high-profile politicians.
