Supreme Court has upheld the five-year sentence imposed on former House of Representatives member, Farouk Lawan.
Lawan faced charges related to receiving a $500,000 bribe from businessman Femi Otedola during a legislative probe into the fuel subsidy regime in 2012.
The Honorable, who previously served in the House of Representatives, was convicted for his involvement in the bribery scandal. The Supreme Court’s ruling solidifies the severity of the offense.
