More Breakfast For PDP As Appeal Court Sacks Bauchi Deputy Speaker

Court

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has invalidated the election of Bauchi State House of Assembly Deputy Speaker, Jamilu Umaru Dahiru Barade of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The three-man panel of Justices nullified the prior confirmation by the Bauchi State House of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal, prompting a rerun in certain polling units due to allegations of over-voting raised by Aliyu Abdullahi Ilela of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Consequently, they directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to retrieve Barade’s Certificate of Return and organise a rerun election in the affected areas.
