According to the prosecution, Shehu entered Adda’u’s property, locked the door, and assaulted the man’s wife and her aides with an umbrella, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

The assault reportedly caused injuries to the visually impaired woman, who was later taken to PHC Tudun Wada for treatment. Shehu pleaded not guilty to the charges during his court appearance on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.

The defendant’s counsel, Mr. S.M. Abubakar, applied for bail, but the prosecutor objected, citing concerns for the complainant’s safety as both parties reside in the same neighbourhood.

Senior Magistrate Lukman Sidi granted Shehu bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety, who must possess a passport and live within the court’s jurisdiction.

However, the case was adjourned to October 8 for further hearing.
